Appearance: Abel Nightroad looks to be in his early twenties, however he is more than one thousand years old. He is very tall and has long silver hair that is usually tied back in a pony tail save for when he is in Krusnik form. He usually dons silver framed glasses when he's in human form to hide his blue eyes. Abel through out the novels has different coats where ever he goes just as a taste of the Europe of the time. In the manga however, whenever he crosses over to the Empire side he switches clothes to a long cloak and very tight pants.
In Krusnik form, Abel Nightroad's hair forms a cone or maelstrom around his head and he gains two very large black wings. He grows fangs, and claws and an extremely dark expression across his face.
Personality: Abel Nightroad is, for lack of a better word, a dork. He fumbles with his words, he eats everything and has terrible communication problems. However, Abel is very compassionate and loyal to his belief that if something can be done to save the innocent and even arrest the guilty without killing anyone. Abel has a very serious side that should not be mistaken as joking – and when he gets angry he transforms into his true Krusnik form. In one instance, he went too far, making his comrade call him a monster. He hides his past very well, he often side steps questions about what Krusnik is or his family and such. His brother, Cain holds a very bitter part of his past that if he sees Cain he will drop anything to try and kill him because he considers his brother to be a threat to humans.
Abilities/Weapons: In his human form, Abel Nightroad has a plain gun that he tends to break. However in Krusnik form, he has wings that conduct electricity and telekinesis and a gigantic scythe that wraps around his body. Noted, that the scythe can be made of vampire blood. Also, since Abel is so old he is a master of computers, being able to hack and reprogram them (please see history for more information regarding this).
Another ability Abel has is that he is very honest and is able to get people on his side with the words, "I am on your side" because he has experienced so much. He smiles a lot even though something is going wrong helping people be of ease. Also, he has a lot of pity for some people, however if he does believe you're doing something wrong he will fight you with everything he has. Abel's loyalty, and his conviction to help the human race, along with his knowledge of the enemy and the world before Armageddon helps him give the advantage when dealing with the opposing side.
Weaknesses: Sometimes Abel cannot control his Krusnik self, and he gets carried away. Similarly, he finds that sometimes he cannot achieve anything without this form and if he gets too weak he transforms to the highest restriction level. Krusnik's have organisms within them called nanomachines that, if they are released to the highest extent, they can drive him insane like they did Cain.
He also has a weakness when it comes to humans and their interaction with mothers. Also, if a human he trusts sees him in Krusnik form, he feels scared that they may know or think that he is a monster.
History:
Long ago, human scientist found two strains of virii on Mars. They tested it out one strain on a colony on Mars that turned humans into Methuselah that made them feed on human blood. However once the symptoms start to make themselves evident, an "awakening" occurs. The virus will then prolong the lifespan of its host, in addition to bestowing superior strength, speed, and healing ability. In return, the host's red blood cells are consumed, and when they become depleted, the virus will cause its host to crave blood. In the series they are called interchangeably, preferring to call themselves as Methuselah, they regard 'vampire' as a derogatory term.
The second strain was called Krusnik that was injected into four test tube fetuses (Lilith, Cain, Abel and Seth). They are unlike their fellow vampire in the sense that they have nanomachines within them, making them able to destroy entire cities if they chose to. Krusnik's are vampires of vampires.
Cain, Abel and Seth hated the humans because to them they felt like they were expendable goods and together, 1000 years prior (it can be assumed to say that the series takes place 1000 to 1200 years in the future) they brought upon Armageddon upon Earth. Lilith, their sister and their mother figure was compassionate towards the humans and fought along their side. Cain, with his mastery of manipulation thought Lilith to be a negative influence on his younger twin and killed her sending Abel into a rage. Abel's sister, Seth and he devised a plan to send Cain to Earth (which he survives to start a Neo-Nazi organization whose goal is to have humans and Methuselah fight until one race is extinct). With that successful, Abel and Seth themselves came to Earth where Seth became the Empress of the Methuselah and Abel, along with Lilith's body went into hiding where he mourned for 1000 years.
In the future, the two main factions are the Methuselah empire and the Vatican who have strained peace. One of the Cardinals, Cardinal Fordenza found Abel in a tomb where he used his vow to Lilith to help people. Now, Abel is a member of AX, a secret organization within the Vatican that carries out her special assignments for peace. He meets and becomes an influence over a young nun named Esther (who turns out to be the Queen of Albion [England]) and a partner assigned to the Duchess of Kiev, Astha. Cain has killed Abel before seeing as the Nanomachines at their full capacity are eating away at Cain. He wants Abel's body for his own uses so that the rotting one can be taken care of. However using the Nanomachines from Lilith, he was brought back to life and he is on an endless quest to kill Cain.
